Doctor discussion guide
Overactive Bladder affects every woman differently, so it's hard for your doctor to know how much it really impacts you unless
you're very specific with him or her. Rather than just listing which symptoms you have, give your doctor real-life examples.
The more descriptive and open you are, the more your doctor will understand how to help you have a life less interrupted. Thinking
about these examples ahead of time will also help you be more prepared to answer any questions your doctor may have. The following
are several discussion points to consider:
Interruption examples
Make sure to mention the following symptoms that may interrupt your daily activities:
- The number of leaks and wetting accidents that get in the way of something you enjoy each week -- like visiting family
members or socializing at a book club.
- How many trips you make to the bathroom in a 24-hour period.
- The number of times you drop what you're doing -- like making dinner -- because of a strong, sudden urge to go to the
bathroom.
- Let your doctor know how much -- and how seriously -- Overactive Bladder is affecting you.
- Give examples that are as specific as possible, such as "I'd like to cook my family dinner more often, but I can't make
it through the aisles of the grocery store" or "I can't enjoy traveling because I'm always worried about not being able
to find a bathroom in time."
The reality is that your doctor can help. He or she knows that Overactive Bladder is a real medical condition and that ENABLEX
is an effective treatment.
Conversation starters
If you are still unsure about speaking with your doctor, find the statement below that best describes your situation and use
it as a way to begin.
If you're not sure about your symptoms...
"I read that bladder leaks and accidents are not just a part of getting older and that they could it be a sign of Overactive
Bladder. How could ENABLEX help me?"
If you're considering medicine...
"I've tried to manage my bladder control problem on my own by doing Kegel exercises and drinking less before bedtime, but it's
not making much of a difference. Can a medicine like ENABLEX help me reduce leaks and accidents?"
If you're not satisfied with your current medicine...
"The Overactive Bladder medicine I'm taking now isn't working the way I expected. Do you think ENABLEX would be right for me?"
Feel free to print this page and bring it to your next appointment. Once you've gotten the conversation started, don't stop
until you get the answers you need to feel satisfied with your discussion.
